Blog post 2 !!!

 Heyyyyy everyone!!

It's me! Matias! I'm back!

I know you all missed me very very much so I'm here to tell you all about my first project, my camera shots/angles quiz.

In short, this assignment was a way to test our understanding of camera shots and angles, and how to use them effectively in a film. We were given a list of required shots and angles, as well as some other shots of our choice, and were tasked to make a story using all the shots and angles using only pictures of inannimate objects. We were also required to make a powerpoint explaining why we used certain angles, as well as a short explanation of the story.

My partner and I approached this by making a story about two backpacks who fall in love when placed together during lunch, but are ultimately taken from eachother from the ring of the bell. We chose a simple but creative story that was not too boring for it to be pointless but also no too complex that it couldn't be shown effectively with our limited time and space. We first started by making the drawings to attach to the backpacks themselves, giving them faces, to demonstrate their affection. Then we took the pictures depicting the story. Finally we made the powerpoint to submit.

I think we did really well on incorporating the use of our shots effectively and with purpose. Every shot that was chosen aligned well with the pacing of the story as well as what was going on in the moment. I think we also did very well in creating a simple story that was not boring but not too complex. I think it fit well with the shots that we were given and the small timeframe of the assignment. I do however, think I should improve on using time effectively. We almost ran out of our alloted time outside and were very close to not being done in time. I think if we had just hustled a little bit more we could have fit the timeframe much more comfortably.

All in all, it was a great exercise that was not only very fun, but was also very helpful in allowing me to explore the realm of cinematography and only relying on shot composition to tell an interesting story.

Anywho, just wanted to tell you guys about my super duper project that you can see right down below

Catch you on the flip, 😼
